The 100 Ton Gun in Gibraltar is one of the most impressive and unique Gibraltar tourist attractions located in Gibraltar. It is a historical artillery piece that dates back to the 19th century, and it is a testament to the ingenuity and engineering skills of its builders.

The popular Gibraltar attraction 100 Ton Gun was designed and built by Sir W C Armstrong in the 1870s. Only four units of this gun were built, but only two remain existent. One being here in Gibraltar the other surviving 100 Ton Gun is based in Malta. It was part of a series of guns that were installed along the coast of Gibraltar to protect the British naval base from potential attacks.

The gun was named the 100 Ton Gun due to its massive size and weight. It measures over 33 feet long (11m)  and weighs approximately 103 tons. The gun was designed to fire shells that weighed over 1,800 pounds, at a speed of 1500 feet (450m) per second up to a range of approximately 8 miles (12km) and had the ability to perforate 25 inches (63cm) of iron shell. It took 35 men to operate it and several hours to heat up the water to prepare the hydraulic system, but once ready it would fire a missile every 6 minutes.

The Gibraltar 100 Ton Gun was in service for several decades, but never used during wartime, it was eventually decommissioned in the early 20th century.
